Also, are you only able to redeem aeroplan points on Air Canada flights?
]]>Hey Ray! Thanks for the insightful question.
I think you mean CIBC Aventura, rather than Avion? Or did you mean RBC Avion?
I’d say it depends on your travel goals. If you’re looking for the occasional domestic trip within Canada or to the US, a “no blackout dates” program like Aventura or Avion might work best, since it allows you to book any seat on any flight. The new Aeroplan program is also moving towards a dynamic “no blackout dates” model for North American flights, so it should go some way towards matching and outperforming the Avion/Aventura offering.
If you’re looking to use points for their maximum value to fly business class to international destinations, then Aeroplan is pretty much unparalleled for Canadians.
Cheers & hope to see you around on Prince of Travel!

]]>With Air Canada’s expected acquisition of Aeroplan to close by the end of June 2020, and it’s continued partnership with TD Bank and CIBC Aeroplan Infinite cards, what top two or three pieces of advice would you give to someone considering a CIBC Aeroplan Infinite card versus CIBC Avion at this moment?
Avion promotes its “no blackout dates” policy heavily in their advertising, which makes me want to get that card.
But will Aeroplan now be able to match that after Air Canada acquires them? Thoughts on that?
