Unless the price difference is HUGE, it’s always better to book directly. I think COVID showed a lot of people that.

At least based on experiences in Europe regarding cancellations due to coronavirus, you were so much better off if your booking was directly with the airline. Paying a bit more is a small “insurance” fee in case something happens!

Thanks for the insights, I think I needed to read this (along with many others) as international border restrictions start to ease up and everyone starts the hunt for cheap flights. I too (covers face) was an incognito clear cache flight browser. Its at least good to know it’s no longer necessary

I had never heard of that first myth!

It is interesting to see what flight prices come out of this pandemic too!

I worked for an airline many years ago and I can assure you are totally right with this post.

I use them and skyscanner, and usually find Cheapflights is able to eek out a slightly cheaper deal, or importantly a shorter flight path (a big deal when you fly from Australia, it can save 10 hours…)

You’re right though, it’s usually only $50 or so cheaper…

I live in Hawaii and travel regularly to the midwest (um, not now of course). There is simply no way to do it without significant expense. I’ve looked and looked, but it ain’t cheap! However – I look forward to the day when we can go again.
